This article makes it very clear that the founding fathers intended us to own military grade weapons. The fascists have learned this history lesson and have proceeded accordingly, starting with the NFA in 1934 and taking small bites from there. There is not much of the 2nd left now, we should focus on restoring our rights and not be satisfied to just keep what is left.
Machine guns and mortars for all! :usa:
JT - I believe you are correct and that is the only way to proceed . Make those rights iron clad so they are never infringed on. I don't believe we can do this and not expect it to erode over time as it has over the last two hundred years. The only way to ensure it is through education of the young on their responsibilities as a citizen of the Republic. We need to dove tail it in with other organizations like the scouts and navigators. I think it needs to be a nationwide movement. We think our ideas are mainstream but that is not so, we are a minority even when compared to the 1% of our country that has protected it. There are others that have not served that are as passionate in these beliefs, they are typically educated, thoughtful and open minded men and women. The only way we will gain support from these people is to make it not about guns but about freedom. It seems at times the course is clear but overwhelming in scope and application. Certainly it will occupy my thoughts for some time until it comes to fruition.
