MagnetoSpeed V2 - for use with a Sound Suppressor, large diameter barrel or other large muzzle attachment
Why invest in outdated technology when you can buy a ballistic chronograph that has been developed with the most advanced design available to today's consumers? Instead of requiring the use of light screens and carefully measured distances in front of the firing line, the MagnetoSpeed uses the magnetic signature of the bullet as it travels across the bayonet - mounted directly to your sound suppressor or muzzle.
Yes, even lead bullets are readable - as they have a magnetic signature. You don't have to walk in front of the firing line at your range to start measuring your velocities, and you can work out your load despite the weather (since it doesn't use light screens). The MagnetoSpeed is easy to attach and very simple to use. It measures, records and stores your velocities as well as calculates SD and ES. There are many reviews online, that corroborate that this is a very accurate chronograph, and will all the other benefits, why would you even consider a light screen based chronograph?

The MagnetoSpeed works with rifle, pistols and shotguns - any that allow the chronograph to be mounted to the barrel.

you can save money by building a chrony using this same principle.
The folks on archerytalk figured out how to use the mic inputs on a laptop to measure the
time it takes a metallic object to pass between pickups and get the velocity.
I'll try to dig up the link.

I've had a shooting chrony for years so don't need to change (unless I shoot it again).

I do like the idea of porting this to a phone app.

Got a friend of mine, he is a reloader and shooter, he uses this and swears by it, he is a smart guy, airline pilot, AF fighter jet pilot, if he endorses then I believe him...had lunch with him today.

It's an old thread so some of the pics are missing but most of the info is still there. What started out as one mans good idea ended up as a very worthwhile project that just about anyone can do, and do it on the cheap. Originally for bows, it can be adapted to firearms pretty easy.

Like I said, I already have a chrony so I followed the idea for informational purposes and filed it away under good knowledge to have. I once considered expanding on the idea for smartphones, I could even make a bluetooth chrony using this, the only hard part is spending the time re-learning java to make the app. Certainly doable though.

I'm not saying the magnetospeed is a bad idea, quite the opposite, and that one can be had for a lot less than $366 if DIY is your thing. Even if soldering & software is not a part of your tool kit, you can still get top tier chrony with comparable features like remote display for about half that.
