The various states deer seasons are upon us. Anyone out there who deer hunts? Have you bagged one already? Pictures would be good. In Wisconsin the season starts a week from today. I will be checking my game cams this afternoon and I will post pictures of any promising bucks. Minnesota's season opened last Saturday. I don't know about other states. I will be using my 30-06 as I haven't gotten a five round mag for my AR10 yet. Also, in the woods, my Nikon 4x16 would be overkill. Maybe next year.
I typically keep my deer seasons simple, salt, pepper, garlic, butter, maybe some sage if I'm in the mood. Like most meat I cook, I prefer open flame with a handful of hickory & mesquite shavings for good smoke.
I was going to tune up my bow and get out this time around, but I said that last time and the time before. If I don't get out a kill something soon, I will officially be that guy that only "talks" about hunting.
We just started up here on the 15th. Its official I am that guy that only talks about hunting, now I am just along to instruct my two boys. We are stalk hunters, this year my oldest son my try his first run down. Next year for sure, you have to have just the right conditions. And with the new GPS trackers I feel pretty safe letting him take off on his own.
This is the buck that had been hanging around my house that I posted a trail cam picture of previously. It was shot by a poacher who used a neighbor's property to gain access to the property I hunt. He was dumb enough to text a photo to a buddy of mine. Here it is:

Here's a 10 pointer that was shot across the street by my friend last week:

Here's the buck that walked by a trail cam 200 yards from my house last Sunday morning. While I was at church he was checking a scrape.

The rut is kicking in now and we've seen the buck above on the move during the day recently. Now I just need to put an arrow in him.
Going to check the trail cams tomorrow and will post any noteworthy photos then.
Gun Season in WI starts this weekend. Cant wait! Here are some pic from the trail cam. the big 10 has been around all bow season but I haven't got a look at him in person. The nice 9 I've seen about 5 different times but haven't got a shot...
Weather forecast for Wisconsin opener in my area calls for a high of 19 F. I will be wearing my Eddie Bauer custom 100% Premium Goose Down filled Blaze Orange jockstrap that day. I was gonna a leave a picture, but you guys would probably track me down and tar and feather me..
