Last weekend a guy stops by with four 22 rifles, He was curious as to what they would be worth. I answered to the best of My abilities and knowledge of what I have heard the different rifles going for.
he had this AR-7 survival rifle, like what I have been wanting since I seen the first one back in the early seventies.
He needed to come by to take care of some business and have Me sign some papers and so, I made Him an offer on the AR-7, He does`nt know much about firearms but knew enough that this one had been slightly abused.
Later that eveningk, he, some other guys and I was heading off to a meeting, when I got in the car, He sort of tossed the AR-7 into the back seat and said,"I am going to give this to You, I know it is not worth near as much as You offered and I have plenty of money so I really do`nt need any more of that either".
I was about half taken aback, well, I was in the back seat. LOL but, what a kind thing for Him to do, with expecting absolutely nothing in return, I guess I sort of run out of words at this point.
The buttstock had some inscribing on it, about a guys birthday, from Mom and Dad, someone had tried to sand this out but it is deep, real deep. Then the DPO must have used some fourty grit on the barrel and sanded a good portion of the black off of that, leaving some fairly deep sanding grooves that I know I would probably not be able to sand out, without messing up the whole barrel, worser than what it is.
I can get the brand spankin new butt stock and barrel for just under a hundred and I thinking that is what I will do.

Good things happen to good people! I see magazines on ebay when I do my regular "armalite" search. If the barrel is still a good shooter then maybe one of those new high speed finishes will cover? :usa:
Thank You guys for the comments.
I was doing a web search for the AR-7 rifles and came acrost this website.
It seems they have a lot of the parts and the pricing seems to be quite reasonable, I think, for a firearm that has`nt been built for several years.
Henry has taken over building these. On the AR-7 website, most of the parts they have are listed as "Will Not Fit The Henry".
I have not been in the henry website to see if their parts will fir the originals.
Now that's a blast from the past. Another one of those "wish I would have kept it" firearms. I don't know if it's still out there, but I remember once upon a time someone used to make integrally suppress barrels that would fit in the stock. I don't recall if the stock was modified or not.
Good score, just not sure what they were trying to do to the barrel. Some people...
On a side note, I was in N Dallas, N of Walnut Hill and S of LBJ freeway on Harry Hines Blvd back in the late 60's - very early 70's. Harry Hines is an industrial area, not sure what I was doing there (IIRC I was stopping off at a fiberglass shop for some work on my Corvette), next to the shop I was at they were doing something with AR 7's. Too far back to remember exactly. Making them, assembly, who knows but they had a shop full of them...I had recently got back from Vietnam and knew what the AR 7 was as it was issue for the USAF.
