Today has just been a good day. It is a beautiful mid - September day in Tennessee. The weather is cool and the air is clear and crisp - the first genuine hint of fall. I had breakfast at 'Pop's Place' - my Saturday morning hang out. I am usually there every saturday from 5:00 till around 7:30 having conversation and breakfast with a wonderful mixture of rural farm community personalities. Then it was back home - taking my wife an egg biscuit to enjoy with the last of the garden tomatoes. I put some gear in the truck and was off to the Rod and Gun Club with Steve to put a few rounds of .308 down range. I've done better - but I shot OK. Then it was on to the little municipal airport where Steve treated me to an unexpected ride in the Cub complete with a little 'stick time'. On the way home I remembered a Community Service Project the the Church was sponsoring so I stopped by and worked for a couple hours. From there it was back home and some seat time on the tractor bush hogging 6 acres that make up our extended yard. By then I was pretty hungry and my wonderful wife had salads made, potatoes baked and steaks ready for the grill. I seared then commando style directly on top of the hot burning lump charcoal and then finished them on the grill rack. A perfect medium rare. Wow! Now, setting on the back porch reflecting on the goodness of the day as the sun dips over the horizon, I realize that without a doubt, I am truly a blessed man, on so many levels and in so many ways. And it has truly been a wonderful day.
I just spent the last couple days driving back and forth from Cape Girardeau MO. to Sevierville Tenn. Wish I would have had time to stop and really enjoy the beautiful scenery!
As it turned out the trip was for naught so I just as well should have stopped some, but then that wouldn't have been on my government travel authorization
At least I got to sample some good barbeque :twothumbs: :usa:
You were probably just a little over an hour SW of us jtallan83. If you are back in the area pm me and I will tell you about our favorite BBQ places. Good smoked pork is another of our passions.
Sevierville is my duty station and Sterling VA. is the agency HQ so I'm sure I'll be through the area some day, if they tolerate my anti big government views long enough! :usa:
There was a time that I was not appreciative of anything or anyone. Then I got sober, or rather God granted Me that spiritual experience that gave Me that perfect release from alcoholism. without that, I would not be here today to tell about it.
Every since that spiritual experience, I have come to appreciate every living moment of the day and on into the nights.
The day You had Keefer sounds like an exceptional good one, everything a man could ask for, that they could get done in one day, was granted to You, I am a bit jealous too. :dual: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
