What did the 80s give us? A music channel that actually played music, music videos that featured loud guitars and half-naked chicks writhing on the hoods of Jaguars. (Thank YOU, Tawny Kitaen.)
"Eat'em and Smile" was one of the best hard rock albums of the 80s. Hell, one of the best hard rock albums of any decade. Steve Vai AND Billy Sheehan? On the same CD? You know know it rocks.

OC - please share. My tastes run from 12th century Ambrosian chants to Frank Zappa. Minus disco, rap, and hip hop. Heavy on OLD blues, the three B's of classical and Mozart.

A little off thread, but I got to see Johnny Lang on Friday night. If you like blues, this young man is a throwback. Think a mix of Stevie Ray Vaughn and BB King. A great show, by the way. Best guitarist I have seen in a long time.
Ok not rock technically, but still one of those moments in the 80's where you can tell most are still trying to figure out this new video medium. Chicks were really diggin this one.
I was a child in the 80's. I grew up on Country music (Parents) and hard rock from my brothers and uncles. From what I saw the eighty's were dominated by New Wave and Hair Bands. Now don't get me wrong, those hair bands put out some freaking awesome music that was very catchy and technical.
As for the generation X, (That's me), grunge and heavy metal hit the ground running at the start of my teen years. For us kids who needed a little more attitude in their music and less power ballets it hit the nail on the head. I really listened to more Metal (Hardcore) than anything. Metallica, Megadeath, Pantera, Zombie, and Korn. This type of music became a true outlet to the reality of teen x. We were young, pissed off, and ready to go!
I'm so grateful for this. It made our generation stronger. I still to this day can pop it in the cd player and still want to punch somebody in the face. So why am I grateful you ask? As many of you have stated about OUR current situation, some of you guys are getting to old to demonstrate or raise some hell (physically). Myself and many others see whats coming on the horizon and I will say with utter sincerity that Vulgar Display of Power will be part of my theme music when S.H.T.F. No, you won't see me running around with headphones in my ears and a AR10. But with all do respect I would rather be running around with Pantera in my head then White Snake. Opinions are like a$$, well you know the rest. What ever music makes you happy and gets your mind working is the best music out there. Just my young and naive :twocents:
P.S. I'm with a new band now that I'm the front man for. I learned how to be a performer from my 80's bands. I learned how to freaking bring it from my metal bands! Videos and extreme criticism to follow, lol!
