If you factor in ya QUALITY bolt carrier group, add $200 to that listed price. So, for another $300 you are into a Colt.

Last year before the buying craze, I picked up an Olympic Arms Plinker Plus for under $600. Despite the bad press about Olympic from the early 2000's it turned out to be reliable, accurate, and enjoyable to shoot. Check them out if you want cheap and reliable.

I think that what we are seeing in the market is a pull back on gun purchases. We all only have 'x' $ to spend on guns. But the surge that ended about the time tax refunds came in has left a lot of folks with some pricey hardware setting in closets, much of it worth far less than what some paid. So a pull back, but look for sales to go normal as we head toward Christmas. Everyone is just taking a breather for a while. Now is the time to grab them...

My nephew is getting good results from his "plinker". About a 2 1/2 moa at 100 yards and he hasn't fired over 100 rounds yet. 0 malfunctions so far. I think the rifle price was about $650, he bought it with a scope and other goodies so I'm not sure about the actual cost of the rifle alone. I got it for him just a few days before the Conn. issue happened.
Talked to my LGS just before the Fourth of July, he said things are headed back to 2009 prices due to overproduction. He figured it would hold there till Christmas at least. His suppliers are giving him large discounts for taking more inventory.
