Obama introduced a new era in America. The era of BIG Propaganda. Oh we can call a lot of things propaganda but in reality it is: Lies promulgated by the govt(s) and organizations to further a political cause and done with intentional malice. Don't confuse this with hype and spin.
Across the nation orgs are popping up with well spoken and what appears to be good words to live by. But under this is the real story of the objectives and goals. Anyone wants to see this in vivd reality then look into Agenda 21 (I am teaching a series on it now) and listen to anything Obama or Eric Holder et al spew out their mouths.
We in the gun world have not been left out. Enter: The "American Rifle + Pistol Association"
My last job in Texas was in Taylor so I got stuck going to the TexDot HQ in Austin a bunch, it is VERY different from the rest of Texas! The music scene was the only positive I saw!

The Taylor job was the "greenest" job I've ever seen! The actual plans were an engineering disaster, they wanted things like a one foot square gutter drain under a block of ramps, with only 3 inches of fall in the block. I explained over and over that it would plug rapidly and they had no access to clean it except each end of the block. I tried talking them into round concrete pipe at a minimum, they just ignored me when I showed them that the fall rate violated their own city code and TexDot specs, not to mention common sense :pinch:I thought everyone in construction understood the minimum 1 inch in 10 foot fall rule . They did however inspect my erosion control system every day like clockwork and quoted the specs from memory
I had to spend 20% of the contract on a disadvantaged business. This led to to hiring a contractor for the allotted amount of concrete work that got all his help from the Home Depot parking lot. I recognized right away that they had nobody that could do the work. I urged my home office to start sending them warning letters right away. The block they were on remained tore up for 45 days before the powers that be in Austin would sign off on letting my crew finish the work. Then the businesses on the block sued our company for the loss of business, one of them on the block was a lawyer  I can't blame them but TexDot should have been the ones to get sued!
All the other TexDot district engineers I dealt with were top notch and and resolved issues on the first phone call, no letters needed. :twothumbs:
Austin has "issues". :pinch:
Small and disadvantage business are both a boon and at major pain. I have used them extensively and they require a MAJOR effort to mange and get work done.
So why use them? As most can surmise they are minority owned, I could cut my contract lead time by up to a year, since minority companies get a pass on almost everything. If a minority company screws it up, not a problem, its always ok and you can often get extra funding to pay them to fix it.
