Top selling does not always equate to top performing. Quite often the top selling is dictated by the economy and political climate at the time and also (and quite often) skewed by companies like CTD who could very well have a massive stock of a certain type of product inbound or even currently in their warehouse.
Trying to get a genuine set of facts from anyone who buys and sells mass amounts of anything is pretty difficult. They aren't going to claim the Colts are the top sellers if they are only making $100 bucks on a $2000 sale whereas they MAY claim something else is a top seller if they are making 100 bucks on an $800 sale which will of course, move faster since people are scrambling for ARs of all types and will often buy based on price rather than quality...
That, combined with a great review from the people offering the deal and poof, instant profits...
It's almost as bad as politics...ya know....almost...
Lot of good comments here. That said I am going to take the writers top 5 based upon sales as the real deal (even tho he did not cite a source) and yes maybe that is only CTD, but I do not know.
Of course does this really tell us anything? Well some of the AR companies out there are nothing but a garage on the back of some house where they mostly assemble parts and resell so they have some LOW volume and LOW vol does not mean junk, just means low vol, nothing more, nothing less.
This then begs the question...how many companies making AR's a major corps? Certainly Colt is and Bushy and Wind'um are there others? I would think S&W would be but not sure.
Qty vs Qalty: Easy to say who makes the best, but validating is a whole 'nother story. What is "the best"?
LaRue makes a fine weapon, but they are LOW production as are many others.
Is the best the most accurate or is the the highest MTBF? Me will I almost always lean towards MTBF.
Ok, anyone know where to buy a PK-31 Kit and beat CTD's price? they have been good to me fast turn around and OK pricing on some items, just like anything else Caveat Emptor do your research!
My wife's Ma cuts coupons to save a nickel maybe we should have or get a coupon page for a listing of discounts and best pricing for those in need :rotfl:
Business, Price and Demand almost every company out there does it. I don't like to name names but another top notch company was or still is buying bayonets from the CMP auctions by the crate full (SCRAP) then advertising them in used, good condition and 3x the price of what they should cost for a Good quality bayonet not 3x scrap price. If CTD pricing is so out of line then why are they still in business? if this is normal they wont last much longer. Why don't companies just charge a flat rate and then Wally World would not have to meet or beat there competitors price. I don't agree with it but it's what makes this the :usa:
That's why I go to AUCTIONS I'm out there for bargains, just bought a $1895.00 brand new mower for $485.00 and that still probably more that what the original company has in it.
If you don't like the price or the company than that's your choice and decision not to do business with them. Connections is what makes it all go around, I use mine, and I'm glad I have some here.
Anyhow,Getting back to the original topic!
Where's the one, the only original AR-15 "ArmaLite" stand in the rankings of the top 20?
#1 in my book  , even if they cost a little more.
