Reducing loads for suppressor use is not something I personally care for. Underloaded .308 starts getting real close to 9mm performance and less than a 30-30. Long, heavy 200+ grn bullets are usually preferred for this but trajectory is like a mortar. A 100yd zero will have you hitting around 30 odd inches low at 200yds.
The reduction in sound can be significant however, and that much of it is fun, but it wears off quick without the performance benefits of a full size rifle to go with it.

I've made many unintentional but almost successful hunting trips that way.
What bullet weight would you recommend for this by the way?

I would start with the weight for old chrome bumper, grill and quarter panel from a 1984 dodge power wagon and then scale it down from there...
