Early spring, before the snow melts in the woods we get inundated with white tail deer. Anything and everything except daffodils are chewed down to the ground. Day, night, all the time. So this year I borrowed my son's 425 ft per second airsoft replica M16. We hear or see one coming into the garden or yard, a five second burst of plastic BB's is enough to send them packing. Dang! Why didn't they have these when I was a kid?
My nephew has one of those M-4 looking air-soft guns..... and I have about 3 tulips left, :censored: DEER!
I've used the pellet gun a few times but being in town that requires a select and small field of fire.
Will those air-soft things break a window? I've tried all the pepper concoctions and smelly sprays, they started eating the pepper plants last year :banghead:
I have to plant my garden in the country now because our nuisance animal policy in town amounts to, there is none, the animal is always right! :banghead: I'm sure I could be wrote up for the air-soft, no "harassing" allowed! It has been over 20 years now since the last local Car-deer crash death.........why would they think a herd of deer in town is a good thing :pinch:
This one might break a window if shot right at it from 20 feet. It shreds aluminum pop cans at that distance. The problem is it is not that less expensive than the real thing. This was a gift from his Uncle a couple of years back. Also it looks so much like the real thing someone would call the police in town for sure. It feels exactly the same as a real M15.
That sounds a little to powerful for my application then. I'd hate to put a row of holes in the neighbors cheap siding. :pinch:
Being seen lurking in my back yard with what looks like an AR might upset some, most see me coming and going with them all the time during the day so I'd hope they wouldn't freak out. Most of the Police would know to approach properly with clear warnings anyhow......... :usa:

Until you come across some 2-bit Barney Fife, too stupid to know the law or anything else and he arrests you..

I prefer the silent harrassment method. I've got a Stoeger X50 that isn't too bad and shoots 1500fps using alloy pellets but the X20 is supposedly almost completely silent and at 1200fps, should quickly put an end to any "varmint" issues...
In looking at my sons Airsoft BB gun I noticed that is either made by Armalite, or is one heck of a trademark infringement! So I went on the web, and sure enough, there is an Armalite Airsoft division. This thing looks like it uses an actual Armalite M15 lower! The difference between this and an actual firearm is incredibly small. Right down to the foregrip, picatinny rail forearm, and the removable carry handle sight. According to my son the company has purchased the right to the name from Armalite, but what a replica!
