I'm reading the book AMERICAN BETRAYAL, The Secret Assault On Our Nation's Character by Diana West
I caught part of an interview with her on BookTV and wanted to see what basis she had for her claims. So far it has been a very informative read. If you have any interest in WWII,the Cold War, and our present battle against Islamic fundamentalist this is a must read. Here is a link to her website;

It does a better job explaining the book than I can.
I keep hoping to find her facts wrong but so far she has depressed the hell out of me by shining a light on the incompetent or dysfunctional government we've had for some time. She really drills down to expose the characters involved. I hope the history book writers will give her claims some credence. :usa:
Nice thing about retirement is having time to read and explore what I am curious about. So much of my reading was about work when I was in the workforce, I didnt have much time or energy to do much more. Funny thing though, overtime I have gotten involved in so many other things, it feels like I have a not quite full time job now. But it is things I want to be involved in.
WOW, I am retired for the 3rd and LAST time or so I thought...I do not have to sit back, enjoy a cup o joe, read the paper and take a dump. I am on the go from morning to night...
Wish I had to time to read a good book:
Wanna read a book you cannot put down, one they will churn your emotions, one you will never forget and read a book that should be MANDATORY reading of every man and woman in the US, then read this.
Ohh, ANYONE who buys it and does not agree with me I will buy it from you and pay for you shipping and insure you make a profit on it, on that you have my word...no questions asked!
When Hell Was In Session
When Hell Was in Session, Jeremiah Denton, the senior American officer to serve as a Vietnam POW, tells the amazing story of the almost eight years he survived as a POW in North Vietnam. In 1966, he appeared on a television interview from prison and blinked the word "torture" in Morse Code, confirming for the world that atrocities were taking place in the Hanoi Hilton. And while in prison, he acted as the senior officer and looked after the morale of his troops at great risk to himself.

CSpan is running several shows on the 40th anniversary of the return of the Vietnam POW's this weekend, all are available online. I found the Q&A session to be very emotional, made your heart swell with pride as they humbly describe the ordeal and disgust at others when they talk of things like the Jane Fonda treason.
