I don't sell guns and only buy what I have a need/niche for so I won't be joining any of the price gougers.
If I had spares though, it would certainly be a temptation but the whole thing just kinda leaves a bad smell in the air to me but hey, it would be a quick source of cash for a guy in a bind...
Sharkey, I was just reading about some challenges in using the 7.62x39 in an AR15 type chamber because of the taper of the case, as well as the pronounced curve of the magazines for the same reason. Maybe Leb or Colt know more about it, but you might want to investigate that a bit. Iread it in the Gun Digest Book of the AR15 volume 1.so it might just be the authors opinion.

Your right there, if it doesn't function 100% Armalite will back it up. That takes the reliability issue out of the mix.
Where do you find the cheap brass ammo? I've been looking on-line for a thousand or better and the only brass case I could find at a reasonable cost was old military issue that had corrosive primers in it. Everything that isn't a premium load has a steel case and/or mild steel bullet jackets. They decided to just buy the cheap Russian stuff for their AK's and SK's but if I could show them re-loadable brass at a decent price maybe they would reconsider. If I was an AK man I'd want a pile of brass to reload. The steel stuff might be dirt cheap now(comparatively ) but the importation issue could put an end to that real fast if it is used as a bargaining chip like past deals. Lets hope there is enough capitalism left to resolve this little supply and demand issue fairly fast! :usa:
About the only cheap brass ammo in 7.62x39 I have seen is the Yugoslav M47 stuff. Corrosive primer, from the early 70's. retail was 289.00 for 1,400 rounds. Wood packing cases looked in terrible shape, but it all sold in a week anyway. In 7.62x51, nicht, nada, all the old Portugese, South African, Turkish, and Pakistani has disappeared, I am guessing for good, or at least for a while.
