A lot of Gun Shows canceling all over the place

I'm wondering if it's pressure due to the shootings or if they don't really have anything to sell anyway cuz of the the country wide panic and rush on weapons?

Most of the time, gun shows are opportunities for companies to kind of get a little boost on advertising and sales but the way these past few months have been, I would guess that VERY few companies are worried about that right now...

I heard (from a very good source) that half the AR industry isn't going to shot show...because they don't have anything to take...Vendors will be there...for accessories...but alot of the Major Players won't be...

I believe it, no one has anything to sell. According to my LGS owner, it will be like this for 12 to 18 months. His shelves are empty of everything. I don't want to shoot too much until I can replace what I shot. Guess I will have to get out the 22 LR's. Maybe buy a 22 conversion kit for my AR. :S

El Kid and I sauntered down to the gun show today. It looked pretty much like it always does with a good assortment of wood and plastic guns, but I saw a lot more wood than plastic. Attendance seemed to be up, and several tables were doing a brisk business in AR stuff. I saw a couple of folks wagging ARs and bulk ammo around.

There was a very interesting looking STG-44 that turned out to be an ATI knockoff in .22 LR (oh well), and my son ogled a nice looking nickel 1911, so we compared its weight, balance and merits to a couple of Sigs and Glocks on the same table. There was one FN FS2000, one PS90 and one AUG, but I didn't see a single AR-10 or FN SCAR.

There was a very nice young lady in ABUs carrying an M249, and when I admired it she handed it to me. So I checked it out as best I was able (sweet) and handed it to the boy (wish I'd got a pic!). She was recruiting for ANG (natch), and it took a little prying to get her off the kid, plus I think she was glad to have somebody else hold the SAW for a while (17+ pounds).

We didn't see anything we had to have, so we admired an M2HB that was on display and broke for lunch.

Did the gun show thing with friends today myself. Not one AR of any number and not one round of 308 :( 2 beat up SKS's at $800 :pinch:
My buddy grabbed the only 10 boxes of AK ammo there, $8 a box for the various Russian brands.
I did finally get to handle an AR-24, I wish they would do it in .45 ACP, it is a nice looking pistol but I'm not sold on the 9mm. The all metal construction does give it that "real gun" feel :)

My local Walmart has been out of .22's for almost a month now! They have about a 1,000rounds of .17 hmr, I might have to buy the ammo then get a rifle for it so I can shoot this summer!

Found some tins of CCI .22 Hollowpoints I snapped them up. Also some Privi Partizan 45 ACP. Buy what you can get now.

I wondered into a store two weeks ago that had Wolf 7.62x39 on sale for $4.59/20! Needless to say it's all gone now! (Heh, heh,)

Wish I had a rifle that would run it.

I WANT to get my wife the Armalite M15 carbine chambered in 7.62x39 cuz it would be perfect for her but now I'm worried that'll never happen although hopes are still high if and when things die down and we have the money.

I wouldn't blow steel cases through it anyway but even the brass ammo is SO cheap for those things it's crazy...

A lot of shows are extremely over priced now... even more than they were 6 months ago. Guys on ar15's website were seeing rediculous prices. $4000 for a PS90! Makes me think about selling mine. People are trying to sell 5.7 ammo for over a $1 a round... I've only got 500rounds left but am wondering if it's time to package deal my FiveseveN, PS90, accessories and the ammo. I'm sure I could clear $6000 for the lot. Hell SCAR16's are going for almost $4000 on gunbroker! I paid $1809 for mine at the factory just a year and a half ago. I'm pretty much on hold with all guns and ammo purchases until this blows over. Thankfully I've been stockpiling for the last few years.
