That was the experimental LMG catapult. The theory was that since fragmentation was so deadly, lobbing an entire machine gun nest into a trench would be even more devastating. The project never left the testing phase due to the inability to consistently land the machine gunner right side up more than 20% of the time.
Well, that is the upgrade, but pictured is the ZPU-4 with 14.5mm gunsand most hated buy the American Helicopter crews in Vietnam, but good guess :thumbs:

The Soviets put twinned twin mounts on an armored chassis with a simple range finding radar relatively impervious to ECM. Was a nasty combination along with their SAMs in the Yom Kippur war.
