Ya... It really is..... It was also a name used to call boys with pimples..... Many old English slang and colloquialisms are clever and very funny.......
Spotted dick was Captain Aubrey's favorite desert......

They are wonderful..... I'm on my second reading..... They are classics.... The finest historical fiction ever written...... It made a deference that Patrick O'Brian was a fine historian.... They are master pieces.....

When I went through Beagle Channel, Around Cape Horn and through the Strait of Magellan, I kept on thinking of his books and his adventures in the roaring forties. Just excellent reading.
