Ok, like most of us here I pride myself on knowing what I am looking at.
Being able to identify firearms used in movies and TV shows is something that people I know come to me about.

This one has me stumped! I don't have a clue and can not find anything similar in any of my reference material. I know that hollywierd likes to glue crap on firearms to make them look cool, but I can usually tell what the original weapon is. not this time.

The TV show is "cover me", episode 15 'the hit parade'. this rifle is seen in the first few minutes being removed from a case and assembled. It looks to be using HK magazines, and has what looks like a folding HK style charging handle located on the bolt?
I know I have seen this rifle before, or something very similar, it is driving me crazy!!

anyway here are the pics

HK SLR 8-6 with top rail removed. Essentially a sporterized version of the G36 for export to the US.

STOP THE PRESSES!

I looked at the mag closely. It's a Ruger Mini-14 magazine. So my guess is OFFICIALLY - A Ruger Mini-14.

Too bad I didn't see this earlier. I could have saved you a lot of trouble. A friend of mine had one awhile ago.

I used to have a web site that is the outlet for guns used in TV/Movies. They sell them when they no longer have a need for or its broken etc. Buddy of mine gave me the site, its not well publicized (and no there are no bargains). And a lot of stuff you see is not the real deal, they often take some gun and reconstruct it to look like what they want. Much of it has been altered to not fire live rds etc.. I will see if I can find it again and post if I do...

I used to think it was hilarious, what hollyweird does with firearms. Right up until I started meeting people that believe the fantasy over reality. Being told my suppressor was fake because it wasn't mouse fart silent was particularly annoying.

It's usually a lot of fun, but then I'm usually better at it.

Anyway, not complete but a good reference none the less.
