Many things come into play in a rifle design but nothing has a greater effect on the precision of a rifle then the barrel.
The purpose of this week's discussion is to narrow down the barrel length (18", 20", or 22") select a barrel manufacturer, barrel material, twist rate, and the gas block for the UAR-10!
i think that it should be a 22 inch barrel due to weight, long range accuracy, and mobility. the twist rate should be about 1/11.25. i have heard that walther makes good barrels(that is just what i have heard), and i think that a gas block with the 4 picanny rails is a great idea. well that is my vote.
If I had my druthers the barrel will be a Mike Rock 5R 18 for mixed use or 22 for long range work. Not 100% sure but I think he has done some incredible stuff with the 1:10.25 twist.
Gas block................a good one. not to picky here
in addition to what i said before, i think that the barrel should be fluted so that way it is lighter, more rigid, dissipates heat quicker, and it would look really cool.
