Funny how people talk about some suppressors are a few db less than others, which in most cases is completely irrelevant because of the low amount of difference. I've never experienced a life altering event after witnessing just about every suppressor manufactures products at one time or other.
When you have done just about everything possible with firearms over the years, suppressors opens a completely new world to explore and buying a name brand suppressor with years of building cans will provide tremendous enjoyment.
I'm a huge Gemtech fan because of the solid construction with full nicjkel welded baffles and doubled wall tubes for durability, which may limit some noise suppression within 8db louder in comparison to flexible sound absorbing suppressors.
Good Topic! I recently purchased a GemTech HVT can for my G.A. Precision AR-10. I'm running a 20" stiff tube(.750" at the muzzle) and a standard military flash hider. Accuracy rivals my bolt guns...without the can.
Paperwork is submitted for the can, now I have to wait for ATF to approve.
I'm pleased with the positive feedback here about the HVT. I know Phil Dater from my class III days and he's a stand up guy and puts out a good product. I'm sure I'll be pleased with the can...when it arrives.
I'll report back when when the can arrives and report back with pics and chrono data.
As an aside, Whit Engel, at Engel Ballistic Research, makes some incredible sub-sonic ammo(Spec-Ops buys A LOT) and a system called the Wraith. I've shot it and all you hear is the click of the firing pin. Scary. He uses a Horus Vision scope and has subsonic data to 550 yards. If you're feeling flush I recommend his ammo and system highly!
MSH wrote: If cans are enhance accuracy I have never seen one at a benchrest match or the palma matches or at Perry. They are legal to use on bench rest and highpower match rifles. I challenge any of you all to go and win the NATs with a can on the barrel. It aint going to happen. I'm calling out the BS flag on this one.MSH
Wondering why you are using my photo??? Is something going wrong or have we been hacked?
I'm not sure about hacked. More like munged. Forum software goes off the rails sometimes.

This is my avitar. If anyone else's name or nic appears above it something is fouled up, and I think it is, because I see my avitar displayed as MSM's avitar.
