They should fit with no issue, I've seen pictures but not actually tried it myself. If I understand correctly these are some of the parts that are interchangable between the ar-15 and the AR-10. Thanks for your input on the powder for cold weather!
The only part of installing that handguard that I'm not looking forward to is removing the gas block- a real butt-pain from what I've seen. But it only needs to be done once, I suppose.
At the very least, it will make one Hell of a distinctive AR-10A2!!
There might also be a dimensional difference at the barrel nut and slip ring, to accomodate the larger diameter 7.62 barrel vice the 5.56 barrel of the M16. That's just thinking off the top of my head, though. Stock photos of the AR10A2 show a triangular end cap, so you might be in luck there, without having seen pics of your particular rifle.
EDITTED TO ADD: Taking off the gas block isn't hard. Putting it back on is where the pain-sweat-profanity comes in. Just make sure to put witness marks on the block and barrel to ensure you re-index the gas ports correctly. Do the same when removing the flash hider/comp so you get the timing right. And don't re-use the pins from the gas block; use new ones.
