Ok, so Armalite says the stainless barrel on my AR10 is "triple lapped." Exactly what does this mean, and the benefits of repeating it, if any?
I remember from my hotrodding days we used to lap the valves with an abrasive to "seat" the valves to give the valves a truer face in the cylinder head. Normally this was done with a suction cup mounted on the end of a handle and spun by hand (or a drill if you were brave).
Is this similar to what Armalite is doing with the barrels? Or are they referring to the torquing sequence they explain in the Tech Notes?
