I'm sure many already know about this, as it has been floating around the internet for ages, but I thought I would post it for those that may not.
For those using the Harris S series bi-pods, the friction lock will frequently shoot loose because the stock parts "lil' bastard thumb nut" are difficult to tighten. The solution is pretty neat, called the pod-loc or S-lock and is available from a few different aftermarket manufacturers as well as Harris for the price of $30.00. It is just a spring loaded lever that lets you torque down as much as needed, and pull outward on the lever to re index it out of the way.
OR you can do as I did and get it here

for the cheap bastard price of $7.70. It may very well be possible to find it locally, I had no luck at all with home depot, lowes, or ace hardware, so I had to order. The only issue with buying it from a hardware store that I can think of is finding something to use as a spacer, but should be easy enough to fab.
alright, lets see if i can get these crappy cell phone pics in order.
I did this mod years ago and don't have any "before" pics. so, for anyone that hasn't already done this, "before" is where you are at, so start there.
step 1. Remove the thumb nut so it looks like this.

step 2. Install the spacer. your spacer may look different depending on where you got it.
It just slides on the stud.

step 3. Install the lever. It just screws on.

step 4. Mount the bi-pod on the weapon.

NOTE: I did this to the bi-pod before I had this particular weapon, and you can see that the lever is pretty long. I have yet to see any need to cut it short or replace it with a shorter lever. folded up against the side like it is in the pic, it is out of the way and so far has never snagged on anything.
