I am having some reloading issues with My LAR 8. Case neck sizing seems to be a problem. This is causing some ejection issues. I am using a Redding Die “small base” for .002 better necking (has helped reduced the problem). I am trying some other brass today. Any ideas? I did use PPI once fired prior loads. Accuracy is sub ½ MOA at 300 yds (groups of 1.125)
Varget 42.4
A-max 168
WLP
Sellier and Bellot brass (once fired, first time with this)
Case trimmed to 2.003
COL with 168 gr A-max of 2.800
I would not use the S&B brass to look for issues with the rifle.. Get some Winchester brass, properly prep it and see if your rifle has issues.. I found that the S&B brass seems thicker and it seems to "flow" as well.
I have used Remington and Federal with good results. Lake City is really good stuff.. However you need to start your loads a couple of grains lower with LC brass. However, when I am crafting and working up loads I always use Winchester. Sized and trimmed to length with each recipe.. Remington 9-1/2 primers. After about 3-4 firings I weed them out.
