I have the full float tube on my LAR-8. I want to change it to an Advanced Half Quad. Does anyone know where I can buy the correct barrel nut wrench? I talked to RRA on the phone this morning and they said they were going to be selling vice blocks and the wrench in the future, but for now I would have to send my rifle back and have them install it for $50.
I have to believe there is something avalible.
I saw Edge posted in a different thread about Brownells .308 Armorer's Wrench. Will it work on the RRA?
I think your going to have 2 wrenches on that one. You will need a plummers strap wrench heavy duty one and a barrel nut wrench. If there is enough demand for them I will start making them again.MSH
I don't want to take business away from anybody but I'l lone you mine. Thing is shipping to you and shipping back, hell you're half way there to owning your own.
I just ordered and received a 308 Armorer's Wrench from Brownell's. They got it to me in 2 days to Hawaii. If you do a search for 308 Armorer's Wrench it'll show up. It seems to be pretty heavy duty and solid. I haven't used it yet though.
I called Brownell's and asked for a gunsmith tech. The guy I talked to said their .308 armorer's wrench would not work on the RockRiverArms .308 barrel nut. I don't know, but it must be somewhat different than most others.
The Duck of Death...lol, Nice name. That from "The Unforgiven"?
Willy-g Brownells tech reps are correct I trained the 2 sr reps in basic and advanced black gun class. Post a picture of your rifle and let me see the handguard area and I'll see what you need.MSH
I have heard that RRA was the odd man out on some stuff...didn't think it would have been on the barrel nut though....MSH, being he has the free float tube already, i wonder if the DPMS one would fit.?? being there are two different ends to it...I also googled it..
these are the links I came up with...don't know if any of them will work...but MSH would know.
Well on RRA's site they say not to use any barrel nut except those made specifically for an RRA because they have a unique receiver thread. I dont no if it is bs or not though. It says it right under the picture.
