Just finished waiting 8 long days and picked up my RRA Lar 8 midlength flattop. Im researching scope/sight options. Ive got a Burris compact 3x9 laying around so I mounted it to see how it shoots. Will give a review after I hit the range....
The fit and finish is very good. Im having a bit of trouble with some FAL mags that are supposed to work. Think Im going to have to modify the detents on the backs of the FAL mags. Went through 200 rounds this past weekend and the rifle cycles and shoots wonderfully. Very happy with my purchase!
rgamjet, please keep us posted on any cycling issues you may or may not experience with this platform. I know Bushmaster could not get their AR-10 variant to work reliably with FAL mags and called it quits. RRA seems to have a reputation for getting things done properly though and it would be great if they can make this work.
First 50 rounds cycled flawlessly. I was shooting both South African Milsurp and Winchester Super x .308.
After 50 rounds the rifle started getting hang ups then failure to ejects. I had to use two hands to pull back the charging rod to eject the spent shell before I decided to retire the rifle for the evening and give it a good cleaning. Might have been grubby ammo. The thing surprised me with the groups. Sub 2" at 100 and not even trying very hard... Had a few groups of 3 that you could cover with a silver dollar.
