Almost there! I have been rethinking QD mounts for the Mark 4... I think I might just go with Leupold rings. I own 1 scope and 1 rifle... what exactly am I detaching it quickly for in the first place? I'll just buy another rifle. LOL I've been studying the whole 6.8 SPC vs. 6.5 Grendel hissy fit..

So, just imagine instead of foam blocks that those are 30 mm rings :)

I could see a QD being useful to get out of the sling if you were in some awkward position or were hung up on something and were in a hurry. Other than that, not much comes to mind.

That said, the 6.8 vs 6.5 hissy is exactly why I went .308. I started looking there after looking at .223 and 7.62x39 side by side and figured I wanted more. I looked over the 6.8 and the grendel then said heck, why not get a cartridge with all the range, all the power, and more availability. Very happy with my .308.

Crux and all,

Your logic concerning going to a .308 is EXACTLY why I stay with that cartridge...
