Can't seem to find any S/N on it, but a good thing is there are also no grind marks!

No, the Model 37 was Remington's effort to compete with the Winchester Model 52 and 75, which had pretty much cornered the market for civilian .22 target rifles.
The army's .22 training rifle in the 1930s was the Springfield M2, designed to resemble the weight, balance, bolt action, and fit/finish of the M1903 Springfield .30-06. Here's mine. BTW: Unique feature of this particular rifle, the s/n matches the year of production: 1933. ...Figure those odds.

Old Ruger 10-22 with metal trigger and housing, dates around 1980 only mod is the Bushnell scope and a quick mag release. If I remember right $65.00 with a brick of ammo.
