Leupold -- I have only ever owned Leupold scopes and I've never had one issue with them. Mine have withstood drops, bouncing around in a vehicle, no fogging, clear in low light, and seem to be crafted well. Though the do cost more than some other models I personally feel like they are worth the price.
Have a U.S. Optics 1.8x10 with a lit recticle. It is a purpose built scope for
the ar10t as the owner of the company used to compete with one. Has
a base/ring setup that allows one knob removal and perfect return to
zero. I'll post a photo when I figure out the site. Super strong tube and
near zero scratch and dig lens.

I have always been a Leupold man too, but the
Super Sniper 10X Scope
has received excellent reviews so far and can be had at around $300 with a little searching. One Leupold owner stated it just as good as those. That remains to be seen by me personally, but the Super Sniper is definitely a consideration for those on a budget (ain't we all) at least.
P.S. I reckon the forum host has to turn something on for links to work in this forum?
I must have read the same post you are refering to because that sounds earily familar. Anyways, I had a SS10x on a Savage 10FP that I just sold. I thought the optics were very clear. At the time of purchase I had a Leupold Mark 4 PR 3-9x40mm w/ mildot reticle and I thought they were very comparable in clarity. Like you said, "We are all on a budget". So, for the money the SS is the way to go....especially if you are like me and have a bunch of rifles to Equip.....
I'm a long-time Leupold scope fan. These days there are a lot more great good-quality scopes available than there were when I started shooting 40 years ago, but Leupold is still hard to beat unless you're willing to spend really big bucks.
I got my AR-10T in late September and mounted a VXIII 4.5-14x50 with an Illuminated German #4 Dot reticle. Not sure why I went with that particular configuration, guess because I was able to get a pretty good deal on it and wanted to try out one of the illuminated Leupolds as I may eventually use the gun for deer-hunting from a stand in dim light. I've not regretted it for a moment. The combination of the 30mm tube, the 50mm objective, and the illuminated dot really seems to stretch the day to the max.
