I've got a armalite AR10T in .243, with a 24" SS barrel. I've been loading ammo for it and am having pressure problems with the heavier bullets (85gr.) and up with a load of IMR 4350 that's not much over the posted min. load from speer handbook and Hodgson's site. I've loaded speer 70gr TNT, 85gr BTSP, and Hornaday 100gr. interlock. The powder is OK for the 70 gr. but I can only get a couple grains over min. before the brass shows pressure signs. Bent case rims, flat primers, etc. The heavier the bullet the lower the load before I see signs. I now know that IMR4350 is a little fast, even for the 70's.
I'm not really sure if the max. pressure for a .243 bolt gun and a .243 autoloader, but since sierra posts different load charts for a .223 autoloader and a .223 bolt makes me wonder if there is a diff. with the .243.
The gun is a true tac driver and I'd like to get the velocities that are possible with a 24" barrel.
Any and all advice that anyone has would be greatly appreciated. I'm loading 70gr-100gr rounds now in new brass with CCI 200's.
