hey at least it is nice enough to shoot....wind or not...YOU get to pull the trigger without freezing your but off....LOL

Fox...You should build a shed like Z's dad did...then I could come up there and shoot in warmth and style....
but I know what you mean on the spring...I am about to load 200 rounds with different combos :S and won't get a good test until April or May.....
Let me know if you build it....hey maybe I will come up and help you this summer...would make for a great vacation....shooting and helping a friend....and shooting....just have the steaks ready... ;)

I would like to make a shooting shed. I will put it on my list of spring chores. Could make it nice so it could double as a man cave. Every man needs several of those. Makes it harder to find him.

You can just see the target framework downrange between the building and the truck.

This is before it was paneled inside and finished, but the AR10 was working.
The tunnel and port are lined with SOnex. All we hear is a dull thud. The old redwood table is gone now and we have a real shooting bench for the top port, and a lower port and tunnel for firing prone.

Its an 8'x14' ShootShed at the 100 yard mark. There will be one each at the 300 and 500 yard marks next spring.

I made it out to the range this morning was not too windy.
All those loads i posted earlier all shot prtty good.I will post the three targets that did the best for me.Hopefully after more barrel break in or me shooting better they will tighten up.I can go up
on some of the loads to. This is 100 yards.

I also did some test loads in some LC brass that might should of been on the hot side but they shot pretty good too.
Load was 175 SMK TAC 40.5 no pressure signs.

Probably beacuse I had to ride that cold a$$ Rhino downrange and staple up a 4'x6' sheet of targets in fifteen degrees.

I would suggest that you try 42gr. of R-15 with the 168 SMK's. That is sierra's accuracy load from the 5th ed. It is also the load that the US military used in the M118 special ball round. Stick with the heavy bullets with a 1:10 twist.
I've got a SASS with a 1:10 18" and an AR10 w/ a 16" SS barrel with a 1:11.25 twist. The SASS is worthless with 147gr M80 ball. Lucky to put 3 out of 10 on an 8" plate at 100yds. I've tried Win. Q3130, Federal XM80 149gr. and SBS (Spain) '08 M80 ball. Q3130 and SBS are nato spec. I was getting worried and I knew it wasn't me, then I tried some Federal tactical Law Enforcement ammo 165gr. Trophy bonded bear claw LE308T1 and was very happy. I shot sub moa with it.
I tried out some 155gr sierra palma, for my CAR, in it with 43gr of H4895 and was pleasantly surprised. Sub moa with it as well. All of my reloads shoot as good or better than factory ammo. All in once fired, by me, brass. Full length resized with the case neck set back to +.002. Sizer die set with an RCBS precision mic.
I'm very new to reloading, but I like to shoot a lot and the SASS and my AR10 in .243 pretty much required that I load for it. No descent priced ammo for a 1:10 twist and not much selection for the .243. In the short time I've been reloading I've found that with the right combination of powder, brass, bullet, and primer the charge weight doesn't affect the group size that much. Example: if a minimum charge is 39gr and the max is 43gr I have almost no difference in group size from say 40.5gr to 42gr. There is a different point of impact, but the group's size pretty much stay the same.
