Just a quick one on media...I need to replace mine...it came with the tumbler, a hand-me down from my father in-law...but the media is old and worn out...so...., I think it is walnut but not sure,
Let the suggestion begin...Corn Cob or Walnut.....
Oh yeah, Treated or un-Treated...also...

I use half and half of each. I can't remember which does what, but it seems like I read some where that one "scrubs" better and the other "polishes" better. So I just combine them. I use untreated and buy a bottle of polishing liquid (Mid-way, Hornady, Dillon, etc) from whomever is cheapest at the time. I can usually find the CC and Walnut media in bulk for really cheap too. I think I'm still using the stuff I bought 5 years ago in two 1 gallon milk jugs from some guy at a gun show. The liquid polish usually lasts 1 or 2 years. You don't need much, just a cap full or so.

Hummm...half and half...might be worth a try...as I said...you know more than I...I think mine is walnut..and very old...very old...it cleans but it does not get the same "shiny" ness that I get when I use steel wool...and my zip trimer...I hate doing both...Oh one more why I am at it...do you clean your primer pockets before tumbling...
I didn't and still had to clean them...
well except 3 out of a 100..
Hell you need to come visit Ne....
Thanks Edge...

You'll probably notice a big difference anyway you go. I need to change mine again here pretty soon too. I will say that when I switched from just using straight corn cob to using half and half, my cases came out a lot cleaner and shinier.

I rarely clean my primer pockets. If they are really bad and look like the primer won't seat right in them, then I will, but its a rare occasion when I do. I tested clean pockets vs. dirty pockets effect on accuracy once and didn't see any measureable difference. So I concluded that its a waste of my time. Uniform flash holes are a different story.
