What to make? was created by Siscowet
I have just cleaned, sized, trimmed, deburred and primed 130 7.62 x 51 cases. I can't decide what to load them with. My standard is 175 gr SMK's BTHP or the same thing in 168 gr. Thinking of trying something new. For a 1 in 10 and a 1 in 11.25" twist rifles. Always open to suggestion.

Maximum accuracy for most.

Going to load up 20 for deer season probably with Sierra Game King 165's.

I had, before getting so busy, had been working on loads for the 168BT bullets, both HP and FMJ. \Using the chrony I found that with 42 grains of TAC powder that they were flying at 2,714 FPS.
I have not had a chance to check them for accuracy though.
Another load I am wanting to work up is for the 150gr Game King bullets. It seems that using the standard load data that I have not been able to find a real accurate load for those bullets.
An old time friend, many years ago, had been loading rounds for My Winchester bolt rifle using 125gr bullits. Those were very accurate, even out over 1,000 yards.
I wonder what His formula was for those bullets ?

All is good here. Got off of all the prescription meds for back pain and rheumatoid arthritis, In a bit more pain but it is good to be free of that crutch. :twothumbs: :busted: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Yeah, I think those rounds were probably scooting out there quite quickly.
Another round I had used in the 30-30 bolt action was 90 gr bullets, soft point. I am thinking those things was really scooting. \
I had bought this chrony several years back and had never had an opportunity to try it out until this spring. sure takes the guess work out of what a booolit is really doing. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

OH, yeah, I am thinking that with the velocity of the 168s at 2,715 fps that there might not be a need to mess with adding more powder to these loads, well, maybe a tenth or so. LOL
I am also thinking of going to the magnum primers with all of My reloads.
I hear that by going with magnum primers that it may be necessary to back off slightly on the powder charge.
I might try some loads using the 42 grs. of TAC powder at 2,715 fps and using magnum primers to see just how much of a difference the magnum primers make.
When I do, I will take to the range some loads with the LR primers so that I have an actual comparison.
It might be a while before I get toooit so if someone jumps in and gives it a try, please post in Your findings.
