I recently was able to find some Reloader 15 Powder to go with the SMK 168 gr BTHP bullets from Lohmans. I know RE 15 is used in the M118lR Military round with the 175 gr SMK. Does anyone have a good data source for the 168/RE 15 combo? Thanks for any help you can give me.
Sierra manual, 5th edition; 26 in barrel at 1/10 twist,168 gr. SMK, Federal case, Federal 210M primer, low charge of R-15 is listed at 38.8gr. with max listed at 43.6 gr. COAL 2.800"
This is the only entry I've found so double check these if you can before use.
Thanks JT I am going to have to get some reloading manuals as I am getting back into it. Allianz lists a load for 45 gr behind a Speer 168 gr, but that seemed high. I am going to start around 40 gr and work up. I have heard that 42 grains seems to be the sweet spot for that bullet. But that was in Rem 700's.

It took a 150 mile round trip to find it. They had no IMR 4895 or Varget. I felt lucky to find this, the powder locker was pretty empty at the store. I will be using it for both 223 and 308 and probably 30-06. Will be a while, I am doing 223 first.
 for cordless drills.. I have spent the last hour and a half reaming out the crimp on 500 military 5.56 brass. 30 years ago I did that on a thousand 30-06 brass by hand reamer. It took a week for the blisters on my fingers to recover.
RE-15 hard to find here to. Not a chance of finding any Varget. Here are a couple of RE-15 loads. Hornady 8th Edition. 22" barrel 1/12 twist. Hornady case Federal 210 primer. COL 2.800" 168 gr HPBT. Low charge 35.2 gr Max charge 44.3 gr. Lyman manual. 24" barrel 1/10 twist. Remington case Remington 9 1/2 primer. COL 2.775" 168 gr HPBT. Low charge 40.0 gr Max charge 44.8 gr. I've got some Hodgdon BL-C(2) and IMR 4064 powder that I am going to use.
I've got 4 lbs of IMR 4895. There is a reloader swap meet this weekend I'm gonna try and trade a few jugs for some RL15. I have found a good spot in OK that has ALOT of components. If your interested let me know. Their priced are awesome!
