New guy needs some help here. I just recieved my LR-260H ( DPMS) and I neck down military surplus .308 brass. All seems to work fine but all fired brass has 2 scratches on the neck of the brass, about 60 degrees apart. If I chamber a round and then eject with out firing, no scratches. I assume these scratches are from someting during the eject process. It doesn't seem to hurt anything but makes me wonder if this is normal. Has anyone had this happen to them? Thanks in advance for your input.
You can put your mind at ease....The .308s do the same thing....it happens on my AR-10 all the time....Something to do with when the round is fired and expands in the camber and the violent and quick way it is extracted....or so I have been told by someone with much greater knowledge than my self...so again...not to worry unless it is caving in the neck...then you have an issue...

Something like these...look closely at the necks...

Try chambering fired brass and cycle the action slow. You should see whats happening, as the ejector pushes the case outward against the locking lugs in the barrel extension. Loaded ammo confuses the issue because the bullet holds the case off the lugs, and is usually the part to get the scratching. Either way, it's a non issue.
I have heard of over gassed rifles cycling fast enough that the condition resulted in dents, even to the point of cutting holes in the neck/shoulder area, ruining the brass. That would be a cause of concern.
