1987, my 8th grade shop class had a bridgeport donated. I took my franken' ar15 to school to mill the carry handle and front sight post off and do the "old school" flat top. the vice principal came in there on the second day of the project with his to do the same. he followed along step by step and we helped each other out on the trickier parts. we went in together to order the weaver base bar stock from brownells. I also fitted the ed brown grip safety and tapered sleeve on my springer 1911 in shop class that year. the good old days.
2009, one of my sons got snitched on when another student saw his swiss army knife. The chick running the school tried so hard to make it into an epic shit storm. even called the cops who, fortunately, saw the stupidity for what it was. I took all 3 of my kids out of school for the rest of the day, went shooting then got a burger and a shake. I had to have the long talk about bitches and snitches with my kids that day.
