I think the bill would need to go beyond the 2nd and address states rights. These perceived "tax" powers are being used by the feds to stick their noses in everything. The Supremes have just kicked the door wide open for them with the Obama care ruling. By trying to stave off assaults on one particular freedom at a time we are only engaging in a game of whack-a-mole. The Feds need to have their face slapped and slapped hard if this avalanche of socialism/fascism is to be stopped.
I've introduced a plank to the Iowa GOP platform in the past that would get their attention, withhold all tax receipts until the federal government returns to the constitution. It was much wordier but that is the general idea. It was thrown out at the district level but failed by less than 5% and required a ballot vote so it did have some support. The establishement used the argument that Iowa would look like crazy radicals to sway it their way.
If there is a state that has leverage when it comes to taxes it's Texas! If there is a state that has the guts to call the feds out it's Texas! Give'm hell! :usa:
That's a great prospect JT, just as the Fed dictates to banks that you must have so many minority loans in order to borrow money at this of that rate. Texas could turn it around the other way and say each time you levy a tax on one of our protected industries we will respond by using a portion of taxes that would go to the fed to support the unfair taxes placed on the citizens and businesses. DON'T TREAD ON ME!!!!!
The more I think about the more I begin to think cutting off the money won't work. The federal government has already run itself out of REAL money and the public just sat by blissfully as they began to devalue what we have with quantitative easing. It has gone so far now that I'm afraid the only way out will be civil war. The states that have been responsible must unhitch themselves from this out of control behemoth or give away their citizens liberty, there is no in between left.
It's now up to independent minded states like Texas to show the way, LIBERTY FIRST! :usa:
