I RARELY pass on Youtube and RARELY watch any sent to me...mostly because its 19 min long and what they want me to see takes 30 sec.
That said, this 3 min video, a press conference by a group of influential Black folks discussing Gun Control, the NRA and the 2nd Amendment it is a MUST WATCH. And if I can ONLY figure out how to get Congress, Obama and the media to play it!!!!
"The right of self defense is the first law of nature: in most governments it has been the study of rulers to confine this right within the narrowest limits possible. Whenever... the right of the people to keep and bear arms is under any color or pretext whatsoever, prohibited, liberty, if not already annihilated, is on the brink of destruction." Federal Judge St. George Tucker, under President James Madison
-agree: :twothumbs: Excellent video. This is not about race, lifestyle preference, religion, or anything else. It is about people who understand the Second Amendment was put in the Constitution to protect everyone' s freedoms, and those who reject that.
I know this isn't the quotes thread but old Tom had such a good grip on this subject I thought it fit.
"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms..disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed one." - Thomas Jefferson quoting Cesare Beccaria, Criminologist in 1764. That was 230 years ago. -Thomas Jefferson
"The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government."-Thomas Jefferson
"Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms [of government] those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny."-Thomas Jefferson
Tom never heard of the NRA but there can't be any doubt he would have been a member!

Life member here and yes I have, saw where one of the gun parts/supplies houses (not brownells) just stroked a check for $1M to the NRA, makes my VERY VERY VERY low 5 figure check seem insignificant...
By the way, I LIKE that ball point pen...where did it come from?
Outstanding Video and carries an excellent message to all people without question. Thanks Cowboy. That is the kind of stuff ALL of America should be exposed to and learn about...
A couple of things are very interesting in this video: 1) The national media has NOT picked up on this (do not expect them to either) and 2) it gives a insight to how independent thinking people see things...no matter you race, color, creed, religion, orientation if you are an American and stand up for our Constitution then you stand with a lot of other Americans. If more Americans would speak out and not allow the drum beat of the current 'communist' thinking to control our media what better place this would be...
It is a great video, but the following is the official NRA story of how and why they were formed.
"Dismayed by the lack of marksmanship shown by their troops, Union veterans Col. William C. Church and Gen. George Wingate formed the National Rifle Association in 1871. The primary goal of the association would be to "promote and encourage rifle shooting on a scientific basis," according to a magazine editorial written by Church.
After being granted a charter by the state of New York on November 17, 1871, the NRA was founded. Civil War Gen. Ambrose Burnside, who was also the former governor of Rhode Island and a U.S. Senator, became the fledgling NRA's first president. "
