Thanks for posting this email. I just received a concerned telephone call about it, an email from the staffer who stimulated the mail.

I think a bit of clarification is in order.

The root of the matter is a HUGE series of inquiries by both email and telephone asking ArmaLite to cut off sales to New York and other states which deny its citizens the right to own our rifles, as several other firms have done. Some of the contacts have been duplicates of others and some were so redundant that they appeared to be spam. Many of them have been rude and I'm afraid one of my staffers thought that he was responding to a spammer and was more terse than he should have been. Once he realized what happened he came to me and apologized.

My purpose here is to pass on his apology from the corporate level and to answer the initial question: What is ArmaLite going to do?

ArmaLite is continuing a policy put into place when California first banned our rifles. That policy remains:

1. We will not sell to those states which deny it's honorable citizens the right to own ArmaLite's.

2. We do not halt sales to individual officers even in problematic states. I am a former Police Officer myself, and the staffer who stimulated the recent anger is a currently serving one. We are well familiar with the fact that most rifles serving Police Officers are purchased by the officers themselves, and that they shouldn't be punished for the actions of their political elite.

We consider sales to those sate subdivisions which are not engaged or potentially engaged with disarming its citizens. DNR and Forestry Departments, for instance, sometimes serve in remote areas that conceal drug farms and their officers deserve good hardware.

3. We will not sell to those lower political subdivisions that deny their honorable citizens the right to own ArmaLite's. Chicago, for instance, prohibits its citizens from owning ArmaLite's within the city limits so we make no effort to sell into that city. We have many friends on the Chicago Police Department and have continued to sell to them individually.

Our observation is that most County Sheriffs disagree with banning sales of our rifles and many publicly refuse to enforce such laws. We sell to those departments and to their Deputies, but will not sell to those County departments headed by Sheriffs who would deny their citizens the same rights.

In short, Americans need not worry that ArmaLite is selling to those who betray them.

As you can see by reading posts on the topic, some readers have been harsh with their criticism of ArmaLite. It was in response to this atmosphere that my staffer reacted harshly. He's come to me and apologized and I personally am passing my own apology along with his.

But don't be mistaken, ArmaLite is strongly involved with both personal, corporate, and political efforts at the State, National, and International level to protect our civil rights. And we'll continue to support your shooting needs as the situation moves forward.

NippsDXer, please do not start multiple threads on the same topic. I understand the other thread was locked however starting the "President's response" in multiple areas is just going to end up with one of those threads being deleted which I have just done.

I appreciate you posting the presidents response however understand that NO attacks on our members or Mods will be entertained and this is not the wild west. Topics are either discussed rationally and respectfully or they will be locked down, deleted and/or the individual member causing the issues dealt with in a manner befitting the infraction.

I also do not care how many views and/or responses certain inflammatory threads have received at other sites so please do not drag issues from other sites to ours just because you know people are members of both sites. That is not something we will be dealing with here.

Thank you for posting the President of Armalite's response. I respect his stance and appreciate your enthusiasm on the topic but let's keep it under control moving forward.

I'm not going to hit this too hard, but are you sure that this e-mail is genuine?

Most Americans know how to spell and punctuate the plural and the possessive form of nouns, i.e. Armalites vs Armalite's. This missive reads like it was written by a foreigner.

Multiple thread was because I posted it in the wrong topic area the first time. I was surprised to see that a moderator locked it when other posters demanded the links and to read what was happening. I NEVER wanted to post the links but came here only to alert someone from Armalite to pass the word to the right people to stop the madness going on over the web from Pat's initial email.

I have been reader of some of the gun blogs for a while and the speed with which that email created a stir in just 2-3 hours was one of the fastest I have ever watched. Armalite, because of the present political situation was not able to answer phones and their email addresses where full. THIS WAS THE ONLY PLACE I could think of that had a direct line to Armalite. I never intended to insult anyone or hurt any persons feelings NOR was my intent to harm Armalite. I wanted to help them and let them know what was going viral on the net at an alarming rate and that someone in authority from Armalite should respond - which they did. I hope that it was partially because of the post in this forum!

I am and will continue to be a Big supporter of Armalite! Spending hours and dollars with them at Camp Perry every year. Every year on opening day for years. Nothing was intended to be hurtful to them from any of my post. Armalite needed to know what was happening. Someone in authority needed to know what was happening. If the post in here helped the owners/employees find out about the viral email so that someone in authority could respond in a proper venue then it did what was intended. I like them and their products too much to have ignored what was going on. It would have been terrible to not do whatever I could and I knew that someone from Armalite would hear about it from any post in this forum!!

Thank you for that ability.

I will be at their door step on opening day at Camp Perry this year too! And if they have anything in stock I will be a buyer again this year and will continue to support this company.

Just for the record...The Administrator of this site Locked it...Mods have the ability to comment on locked threads if need be...I "Asked" (As the Assistant Administrator) for the links so people would know what you were talking about...As for the rest...I and most on this site Own ArmaLites and are devoted to them...It was a Matter of Post Control if you will...We abide by a strict sense Of Honor here and did not want it to turn into a Internet Free For All...I am sure you can understand that...ARFcom is ARFcom...The GD section is...well I will keep that to my self...but I think you get my Meaning...You are welcome to post and be a Member here...No Foul...but in the Future...if it is a "Volatile" Type topic...Please get with a Mod or Myself or the Main Admin before you post it up...this will save on any mistakes or issues in the Future...

Fast burning threads like that are normally just all inflammatory crap as well and we all know it. Snowballs are what the noobs who start that crap LIVE for and fast moving threads on "other sites" mean little or nothing to us OR well established companies like Armalite if you ask me.

I mean really, so what if a thread went 5000 posts in 20 minutes. Unless there are some facts to back things up, it is meaningless and everyone should keep that in mind.

One of the main factors of my enjoying my membership here, is the fact that sure, sometimes we get things rolling a bit but once we all realize what is happening, we all back off a bit, take another look and go back to using our brains again instead of posting from a shear adrenaline, fear, conspiracy theory or just gossip stand-point and get a grip.

I'm proud to be a member here, Global Mod or not, and will always be glad to come in and enjoy the fun we have as well as learning about our rifles and what other guys are doing with theirs.

We do our best in here to USE our heads and KEEP them as well as a little finger control and that is what, I believe, sets us apart from many other sites.

Great stuff guys. We take pride in taking care of our own and it just so happens that Armalite brought us all together and I say we are a damn good bunch - and growing daily.

Not only that, but I didn't realize when I bought it that this rifle could stop locomotives and shoot down airplanes. (Sorry, I had to). :whistle:
