For us Minnesotans out there: we're in trouble.

As many of us know, the gun control debates have escalated with recent triggering events. However, MN has no introduced a bill that puts every other gun control bill in the lower 48 to shame. Today, we have the most restrictive bill, concerning most firearms, on the docket for the Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday's Legislative Sessions. This bill is so insane that most people say it will never pass, However, our House and Senate are comprised of a majority of DFL Reps. These are the same people who wrote the bill. This is a opportunity to get their legislation passed and they have a very good chance at doing so. DO YOUR PART, CONTACT YOUR REPS! Here is the bill nomenclature:

www.revisor.mn.gov/bin/bldbill.php?bill=....0.html&session=ls88

Here is the simple letter I wrote:

Representatives of Minnesota,

I am contacting you all today due to the bill presented: H.F. No. 241. I am a loving father of two children, a USAF Veteran who flew over 600 combat missions overseas, and a Political Science undergraduate who is utterly ashamed as to the pathway this bill will take us. I am not going tear apart the bill as anyone who has a basic knowledge of our governmental founding and systems of checks and balances knows this is a disgrace.

We objectively understand that there needs to be "Gun Control". However, to control guns is by instating a ban is completely unnecessary and arbitrarty for the security of the state. Why have my representatives not taken 30 min out of their day to learn the correct nomenclature of the firearms world, and for that matter, why have you all not looked at the basic data available to the public showing the violent crimes do not desist under weapons bans? I, an undergraduate student, have a more logical basis and objectively fact driven argument for an overall goal for the better control of guns. To ban guns does not, has not, and never will work. Why are we all so driven to ban something via legislation when the people who are unstable and criminal will not follow any passed bill. Law enforcement officials have publicly stated that with current budget cuts, less man power, and less job critical equipment, we the people need to be able to defend ourselves. Why do you want my family to be in harms way? Do you feel as if I am not important enough to defend myself? Seriously, why am I looked at as a criminal for being a responsible, law abiding, military serving, legal gun owning citizen of the United States?

Please understand that this is an insane measure to a problem that needs to be fixed. There is no need to ban something that the constitution states as untouchable, this also is objective. The fact that this agenda has been put onto the docket brings an overwhelming feeling of disappointment concerning my local and state government. Please shut this down now.

Very respectfully,

Joshua R. Faust

It's pure insanity here! We're a state that thrives on hunting, fishing, shooting, etc. Hell we have Lake City Arms, ATK, and DPMS here just to name a couple. It's estimated that over 3,000 jobs will be lost if the legislation passes and thats not even talking about the number of Ma & Pa shops closing down due to this. We start voting blue and look what happens. The state turns to pure shit overnight. Well, time will tell.....

Focus on the outstate Democrats in the legislature. It will be political suicide for them if they vote for this bill as it reads. 7 round capacity maximum? There goes every 22LR practically ever made except for the single shots. :censored:  :censored:  I thank my lucky stars I moved out of that state 13 years ago.

I was thinking the same thing "Political Suicide". But, the more I think about it and analyze it, I would not be surprised if some minor things were revised in MN 88th legislative session but nothing major changing and it passes. Why do I say that, well, the whole damn state is DFL, there is no GOP presence, we have no power in the senate, house, or executive offices. Minnesota has been on this deeply downward spiral to a liberalized agenda where it has finally gone off the deep end! However, if it does pass it will be brought to repeals court if not Judicial review, but even then, I bet our state Judiciary system will call it constitutional under the Heller case.

If there is anytime in history to which a bill such as this can pass, it will be this week.

Well gentlemen, any State recommendations on where to move? I'm out of here in May and could use a good suggestion.

Nebraska is solid red state. Iowa is favoring red on a state level but goes blue for the big one. The Democrat Iowa legislator who made national news calling for confiscation has dropped a ton of money on ads walking back his statement and promoting his pro-gun stance... :rotfl:
I never have understood this big liberal thing with Minnesota, everyone I know from there seems conservative to me. Maybe this will wake up more of that silent majority. Keep up the good fight! :usa:
