Call for ban in Iowa is propaganda

No sooner did I get through bragging about my thoughtful state politicians here in Iowa and I hear a tease on FOX news that confiscation of all semi-automatics has been proposed by an Iowa legislator. Turns out it is worse than I thought the representative(so-called) lives just 12 miles down the road in the next district. He is a democrat but scored so high on the conservative scale nobody even opposed him. His district is one of those misshapen things meant to insure the party outcome so he had no real election worries. His dad had been a state official for decades and had always been a strong 2nd amendment supporter. My impression is this is all a grandstanding event for both sides. His comments came from an interview in a local paper, not any proposed legislation. He has just been selected by the democrat party to carry the water on this issue because they feel he has a safe seat. With republican control in the house and the governor's office the issue will not fly til if or when the numbers change. Both sides are using this as a fundraising propaganda technique.
I had over a dozen calls from politically active people today asking if I had heard and starting to organize his departure, I doubt he makes it past the primaries from the sound of his own local party officials.

If anyone has the spare time to email or leave a message he could sure use some education on the second! Messages from out of state will help reinforce our position that he has embarrassed us here in Iowa!

I just love seeing guys state that it's "an embarrassment" when their politicians DO stuff like this. For gosh sakes, in other states when someone does something like that, it's a VERY big deal cuz you never know WHAT idiot is gonna jump on the bandwagon with em and it can quickly turn into the nightmare we are all facing...

I wish our politicians could actually FEEL embarrassed about something sometimes. These bastards have no shame at all... :(

Email sent I pleage $20 to who ever runs against him.

Dear sir,
I just want you to know sir your position on the second amendment and your lack of support for it are well known across America. There are thousands of folks just like myself that will each donate to your opponent to unseat you and your liberal ideology from our government. I live in Texas but will help defeat you!

Those that forget history are doomed to repeat it. In 1994 the Democrats lost the house and the senate due to the assault weapons ban. YOU are standing on the graves of 26 dead people using them for your own liberal agenda. You are doing nothing to protect children in schools.

Want safe schools? Do as Israel has and put guns in the hands of trained teachers. Because no matter your twisted ideas, the only way to stop evil men with guns is with good men with guns.

I promise you...this is your last term in office. YOU HAVE FORGOTTEN 1994!
But you'll remember it as your packing your desk sir. I promise you...you'll remember this email.

The people owning assault rifles is to protect us from YOU

Thanks Moby, these contacts do really matter. Mr. Muhlbauer has been busy trying to walk back his statements. He first claimed to be misquoted but the paper supplied the audio of the interview for the local radio station to play. His opportunistic methods have been fully exposed, in his own words. The big debate about it at the local gun show was whether to go after him in the party primary or the general election. Either way you can be sure his confiscation comment will be part of an ad against him!
I can't say if he is embarrassed or ashamed but it is obvious he knows he was wrong. Thanks again, this grassroots contact is what will make the difference! :usa:

Few politicians have a conscience about anything but their careers buddy...

I believe it was in the movie "Backdraft" when William Baldwin busted the politician and said:

"do you see that little flashing in the corner of your eye? That's your career dissipation light - and it just went in to high gear"...

I only wish the REST of the country's politicians could be handled so easily...

God Bless you and your state man...

Believe me, this wont be fully "handled" till he no longer works in Iowa government, but it has been pleasant watching him try to change directions so fast. The real test will be how long the party leadership that put him up will continue to run things.......it is nice to savor some of these small victories for liberty though! :usa:
