I have had this old Ishapore .308 for quite a few years. It had been sporterized and looks bad, not that they were the nicest looking rifle from the beginning.
I searched and ordered the original components, furniture, sights, band screws nuts and bolts.
I began installing the original components and got to the wood. Wouldn't You know it, the barrel had been cut and shortened. :banghead: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Well, today, I called Numrich and checked the barrels that they have listed for this rifle. Bores are suppose to be very good to excellent, and so now, I have a barrel coming, complete, I will have a couple of components left over, always nice to have a few spare components. :rotfl:
I am thinking that when the barrel gets here of having the painted black components stripped and black powder coating it all.
Make it into a nice looking Enfield.
I will do that. I got the tracking number, it just doesn`t show on the fed~Ex web site yet. Maybe today it will, barrel shipped yesterday, or at least notification was sent to them.
Package left Newburgh Ny on the 18th.
It has made it to Saint Paul so, it`s a moving right along.
Delivery date is the 25th.
I once had a package that went through Detroit. That package took three days to get out of that warehouse. :whip: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Progress of the package. it might arrive here, today.
Left Billings at 11:57pm, should be here today. I think.
One thing to ponder though.
Hathaway is 20 miles to the west, there used to be a post office, a bar, groceries and gas. There is nothing there now, just wondering, thas all. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Did the take down of the furniture, took the action and barrel to one of the used to be local smiths. He must have retired, but He did not recommend anyone in town to take on the changing out and setting up of the barrels.
He was a good smith, just not sure what to think about Him not recommending any of the dozen or so smittys. Said the only place that He would take it would be to a shop on Main in Billings, 150 miles to the west.
Can it be that difficult ? ? ? ? might have to cut a round of threads to make it all align then check the go~no go chamber measurements.
Am I missing something here ? ? ? ?

Took the barreled action to one of the local shops. He assured Me that He know what He is doing. I have had this guy do some work for Me on previous occasions and He did Me good.
Said it`d be about the middle of next week and $75.00.
In the mean time, guess I should be busy with the sand paper and the boiled linseed oil
Getting the lower fore stock ready.
Had to file the groove for the center swivel band down, quite a ways. It just would not close tight. It does now.
Also, several components were not there. The forward nose piece has an oval shaped nut and the screw for it, also there was no noze cap screw.
In esarco, they have a complete stock hardware kit, $48.00, although I have most the components and could have got by for about $19.00, I opted for the complete kit. Then I know that I will have it all.
Receiver and barrel are suppose to be ready today. I will be going to Billings in a short while so I will wait until I get back tomorrow then go out and get that.
I will be at My sons house for a few days, until he gets over the surgery, a little.
I plan on taking the rifle over there and assembling it, have something to do while He is healing.
