I want to change barrell on my OA-10 Oberland and I have been thinking about
Lilja AR10740 .308 barrel 20" drop-in type. Has anyone had any experience with that barrell? How does it work? How is the accuracy?
While I do not own that specific barrel, I have owned a couple of Lilja barrels. Lilja has a great reputation as a barrel maker. Considering that there are few drop in AR-10 barrels available it looks like a "buy" to me.
The reason I'm asking for opinions is that this Lilja barrell is very light weight.
Only 2,50 pounds, that's 1,2kg. The original barrell weights over 4 pounds thats 2 kg . I'm concerned that the Lilja barrell is too light to be accurate.
Should I be concerned?
Only time will tell.
I`d say that a barrel coming from Lilja would/should be one of the best, also built to last with maximum performance.
Personally I do not think Lilja would market a barrel, with their brand name on it,that would not hold up and do what it is/was advertised to do.JMHO
A lighter weight barrel will be more difficult to shoot accurately compared to a heavier barrel of the same quality. Lilja also has a heavier profile barrel. It is longer 24" vs. 20". Have you considered this altermative?
It has to be 20" ,because I'm using it in a sniper competition, where a 24" would be too long.
I know that Lilja barrells are excellent. But if anybody has a personal experience
with this particular .308 20" drop-in barrell, it would help me with my choices.
There is also the Armalite AR10A4 national match assembly 20" to concider !!!
