I am looking to buy a gun and was wondering which one would be better out of the three. I would like to do some long range shooting and some hunting with the gun.
Yea I was leaning toward the 308 just because of the cheap ammo cost but I liked how my buddies 6.5 creedmore shot and heard that it is better for long shots than the 308. I did not know much about the 260 remg.
6.5 creedmore is a good round for sure. The .308 is capable of a lot more than I need. I'm limited to 200 yds at my local range. The .308 has much longer barrel life to.
You know, with bullet choices being better than ever, any of those will likely do whatever job you want to accomplish. It comes down to personal preference(308 makes the most sense for me). I was watching a special on national geographic about the annual eskimo hunt on the arctic circle. They had one man standing guard to kill any polar bears that came into camp (whale blood and guts in camp apparently makes pretty good bear attractant). So his bear gun in those subzero temperatures was an old .223 cal ruger ranch rifle semi-auto with a 20 round clip, open sights. Made me think maybe we get too picky with our opinions about which caliber we need for deer vs elk vs coyote, etc. Although in my humble opinion, that eskimo was either very brave, or very stupid.
