Well I have owned a AR 10 A4C with no forward assist since late 2007. I kind of bought it randomly, I came back from a deployment to Iraq and wanted a rifle an I had money to spend. I didn't want a AR 15 because we shoot that all damn day in the Army. But since I am familiar with the AR platform and ergos I decided to get the AR 10 and the thought of a .308 just sounded awesome. Thing is I only shot about 50 rounds through it back in early 2008. Then I just stored it away in a case, put it away in the closet. I only pulled it out every 6 to 8 months to wipe it down and apply a coat of oil. Basically I got into other expensive hobbies like motorcycles and motorcycle club racing... that made me neglect my AR 10! But now I am ready to get back out there and shoot this awesome rifle that has been collecting dust!
Currently I want to leave it pretty much the way it is. I only done a couple of things to it when i first got it, added the DD rails, forward grip, surefire tac light, Leupold CQT scope, after market pistol grip. Next I'm looking to get a decent bipod for it, buy ammo and shoot away! I have read a lot on here and seems like most people go with the Harris bi pods, so I'll probably be looking to get one.
You can go with the harris bi pod and have a good bi pod, or you can go with the atlas and have a great bi pod.
Myself, and several I know are making the switch to the atlas as soon as funding permits. I only had a chance to try one out for 5 rounds out of a R700 and I was sold.
Thanks for the tip. I would rather spend the extra money now then regret it later and end up buying the better bipod. A quick google search shows that most people prefer the Larue mounting system over the Atlas mounting systems... any tips concerning the mounting hardware? thanks again.
Then one I got to play with had, I believe, an ordinary screw clamp and I didn't get to take it off or anything so as far as I know It's just preference. Hell, I put larue on everything anyway.
