Hi everybody! Just wondering if anyone else is having a hard time obtaining DPMS .308 rifles. I ordered a LR 308 classic with some add on goodies back in mid April 2011. Still no rifle. My gun dealer, Jeff at Sawtooth tactical in Garden City, Idaho called them about 2 and a half months ago, and he got a story about "extractor problems" that they would have sorted out in about 6 weeks. When I ordered this rifle My dealer was told they were 8 weeks out on new orders which I personally confirmed by calling DPMS a couple of days after placing my order.I still really want this rifle, but am now wondering if I should be considering other manufacturers. Any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks All! Greg.
Is your dealer ordering from DPMS direct or from a distributor? Sometimes there's a difference between what DPMS is making at the time and what the distributor has on hand. Also, have you researched some of the major on-line sellers like Bud's Gunshop? Give them a call or e-mail and see if they have what you want in stock, then co-ordinate with your FFL for shipping.
I've had my LR308 classic several weeks now. Love it, getting 1/2 to 3/4 inch groups at 100yards. feeds commercial and surplus ammo with no hangups after over 300 rounds.
In 2008, I ordered the DPMS 7.62x51 SASS rifle and in late 2010 I finally received the rifle. DPMS kept giving a mirad of excuses (Some were too ridiculous to mention and very lame for a major man.) But note that at the time of the order was made, and because of the liar in chief caused massive runs on fire arms, delays for orders were really long. But none the less, the rifle is a tack driver but the long delay killed my enthusiasm and became just another new gun. Not even a smile. DPMS killed my fun.
I am not sure what was the holdup on the guns you guys ordered or whatever but I ordered an LR 308 from my local shop which is just a little place and had the gun in my possession a week later. I know Fin Feather Fur has a bunch of DPMS in stock. You might check with them and see if they could send guns to your local shop for you to pick up. Their site is

this is where I bought my 110BA sniper rifle and they have awesome prices on ammo. They did not have the LR 308 in stock at the time when I wanted one so I got it from another place closer to my house. Fin is definitely worth the 60mi. drive for .338 Lapua since it is $20 a box cheaper there :)
