Hi all, I'm new here. I currently have two Bushmasters and one Ruger AR-15. Last weekend I shot a wild hog SIX times and the dude kept on running! I know I need a bigger gun like an AR-10. After some initial research I see the Armalites are slightly higher than the DPMS's. Are there any legitimate reasons for this?
I really would like to stay in the "just over a thousand" range. I see the DPMS AP-4 was "Gun of the Year" in 2006 and is reasonably priced but would I get more by spending more on an Armalite? I also like the fact that the Armalite is the original. Any suggestions?
I will say that Armalite has been doing this for a very long time. They also have forged recivers and that is the reason I went the them. You basically get what you pay for. I am not saying the DPMS is junk hell I came very close to buying one. You will probably be happy with either one.
You could just get a 6.8 or .458 SOCOM upper for one of your AR15's. That should cure your hog problem.

DPMS...will work..if you go that route...Read around the forum and in the archives....then think...they are Pros and Cons to everything....but with a Armalite...You get History..In-ovation and You also become part of the Pride as I like to say...but 1K may not do it...so you have to think on it...is price the major objective...or a Top Notch Hog Killer...
Think On It...

I bought a base model Armalite flat top. It has been amazingly accurate for me and everyone else that has shot it. I like the trigger on my Armalite better than the DPMS's I had handled. The prices were not that much different when I compared apples to apples, things like the chrome bore were extra on most others but standard on Armalite. I was not thrilled with the fit of my butt plate but the fit were it counts, like between upper and lower, were outstanding. I haven't found any brand ammo that didn't function and allof it has been more than accurate enough for any hunting. In my dealing with Armalite customer service I had to deal with some delays and mixups but in the end they wouldn't give up till I said I was satisfied, that and my rifle has sold me on Armalite.
