I have had my AR 10 SASS jam a few times using Lapua brass. I have not had any problems with Lake City, Lake City Match, Federal, or Winchester brass. Has anybody had any similar problems? I keep my rifle clean, bore, chamber, bolt, etc. My only thought is that the brass is a little softer and that causes it to flex a bit creating the jamming problem. For the money, I am going to stick with Lake City as it shoots well and last longer. The Lapua was an experiment (an expensive one!) Thanks in advance.
When you say "jam," could you be a bit more precise? Is it a failure to extract or eject? Or does the bolt fail to go completely into battery? Knowing exactly what the rifle fails to do makes diagnosing and resolving the issue much easier.
Jamming occurs when the spent brass is not ejected completely (or quickly enough) and gets caught in between the top of the inside of the chamber from above (maybe on the charging handle) and the next round being fed from below. The spent brass is open end out, like a side ways stove pipe jam. Dropping the magazine and pulling back the charging handle will clear the issue. Thanks for the help.
