Looking to either buy or build a lower. If I buy a complete lower I wasn't sure if the extra $75 is worth getting the NM trigger over the standard two-stage Tactical trigger.
Is it correct that the Tactical and NM are the same but the NM is adjusted at the factory?
If I build I will probably just get a Geissele SSA. How would the NM compare to say a Geissele trigger? Are they night/day?
This rifle will be 95% used as a bench/prone long range gun.
I have rifles with both the Armalite NM and the Geissle SSA. The NM is a good unit with a bit of mush in the first stage but breaks clean in the second. Perhaps it's just my perception, but the SSA "feels" slightly heavier than the NM. That said, the SSA's first stage is clean, with a tiny bit of take up and the 2d stage breaks crisply.(SIDEBAR: I dispise gun rags that describe all triggers as having a "glass rod" break. That phrase is the shooting equivlent of, "It is what it is.")
Both are very good triggers but for your intended purpose I would look closely at Geissle's Super Dynamic or Hi-Speed National Match IOT wring the most accuracy out of the rifle. The SSA and SSA-E are oriented more toward the tactical side of the house and give up some of the fine tuning and lightness for increased robustness. Timney's Gold line of triggers also seems to be doing well in competition as well.
