New member here. After much research bought my first AR10, a Bushmaster LR-308. I could just have easily been happy with any number of other choices but this one was easy to buy without having to ship & transfer.

Moved an EoTech optic from another rifle to the Bushy for a test as the rifle came as a flat top, no irons. 75 foot paper, all in the black from standing position, good so far. The gun is heavy and I am old and decrepit, definitively going to visit the gym more frequently.

The trigger needs some attention, it's a bit stiff compared with my Sig AR15.
Will it break-in after a certain number of rounds or do I need to follow the YouTubers recommendations to lighten trigger pull by bending the hammer spring etc?

Any recommendations or links would be much appreciated.

Look forward to many hours reading the threads on this forum.

Thanks!

Welcome 1911, I would not modify the trigger group at least not till it has several hundred rounds down range. They usually smooth out nice with some use. Not the cheapest thing to break in with today’s ammo prices.

I agree with Ed - Do NOT bend the springs of your trigger mech IOT lighten the trigger of your rifle. After a couple hundred trigger pulls (dry firing counts, too), if the trigger hasn't smoothed out to your satisfaction, replace it with a new trigger mechanism. Both Timney and Gieselle make very good triggers for AR10 and AR10-pattern rifles.
