Did some load testing my AR-10T/260Rem the other day. It really likes the Sierra 100gr HP bullets. Recoil is not a factor. I was able to zap small rocks on the 200M berm with them..
Didn't bring my AR-10B/308 but I did have my Colt HBAR along for the ride. Just for some casual plinking with some 20 year old reloads. Both guns functioned perfectly with zero events. With the Iron sights on the HBAR I couldn't match the AR-10's accuracy but the HBAR is plenty accurate for the battlefield. One thing I did notice was the recoil spring vibrating after every shot. Boing, boing, boing.
Next time I go to the range I will take my M1A and my AR-10B/308 to fart around with. Having fun out here before it gets too hot! :woohoo:
About the boing, boing, boing; Don't do anything about it ! You'll just have to accept it as that's what it does. Seriously, don't try any fixes; it ain't broke!
I have an AR10 in 260. With H4831SC and 140s, I get bug holes at 100 when the vel. is about 2750fps. Tried it out to 300 on a four inch pumkin. Smacked it every time !Had to use the third mil dot; but that's what theys fer, right ?
I'm just shooting up odds & ends to see what the gun likes best. So far it seems to like most everything. I'm using 4831sc & 4895 powders with various bullets. I really like this 260 Remington caliber.
